Most pigs do not have thick furry coats, only a layer of fat to keep them warm nor do they have sweat glands to keep them cool in summer. The micro pig due to it's size has less protection and will feel the cold more also pigs will naturally huddle together to keep warm so pigs kept alone or in pairs as is often the case with pet pigs will be especially suseptible to extremes of temperature particularly if coming in and out of the house. Pigs can get colds, flu, and are prone to pneumonia and pleuresy. So how do we protect them from these extremes of temperature??

At micropigs in blankets we have created a snuggly coat for your pig with a waterproof cotton outer and a warm fleece inner. Two sturdy webbing straps secure the coat in place and plastic push and close buckles mean that it is a doddle to get on and off.
